THE SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT CONCEPT 1. Discuss the differences between supply chain and supply chain management.
A supply chain refers to the activities associated with the flow and transformation of goods from the raw material stage, through to the end user, as well as the associated information flows. Supply chains are not a new concept in the sense that through the years organizations have been dependent on suppliers and organizations have served customers. Although any organization can be part of a supply chain, supply chain management requires overt management efforts by the organizations in the supply chain. Moreover, supply chain management cannot be successful unless the participating companies adopt an enterprise-to-enterprise perspective. 2. Discuss the SCOR and GSCF models of supply chain management.
The SCOR model identifies five key processes—plan, source, make, deliver, and return—associated with supply chain management. Each of the five processes indicates the important role of logistics in supply chain management. There are eight relevant processes in the GSCF model—customer relationship management, customer service management, demand management, order fulfillment, manufacturing flow management, supplier relationship management, product development management, and returns management. Logistics also plays an important role in the supply chain processes in the GSCF model. 3. What are four key attributes of supply chain management?
The chapter discussed six key attributes of supply chain management: customer power; a long-term orientation; leveraging technology; enhanced communication across organizations; inventory control; interorganizational coordination. 4. Why do contemporary supply chains need to be fast and agile? “fast” encompasses a time/speed component, while “agile” focuses on an organization’s ability to…...

Is535 Week 7 Discussion Question

...IS535 Discussion Week 7 Major corporations, governments, and other organizations are hacked each week, mostly by means of phishing attacks. Describe how users and IT organizations should arm themselves against these attacks. I see the key to defeating phishing attacks is a comprehensive and active education/training effort and a strident monitoring/notification capability to thwart those types of attacks. With this two pronged effort you both educate the firm and keep the firm informed on the latest phishing attacks or expected phishing attacks. What are the social and security issues for individuals and organizations relative to personal and business use of social media? One important factor of using social media for personal and business use is the degree at which it is controlled through the business networks and the ability to compartmentalize specific data. The problem arises with individuals who are so addicted to a specific social media they will find a way to access it no mater how stringent the measures are to control it. The only secure way to control social media in the work place is to block access through a firms wireless and hardwired networks. This is not a hard thing to do but in the age of the smartphone there could be many work a rounds in the individuals workplace. One such work a round that would impact the security issue is the ability now for smartphones to tether local computers and avoid a firms internal networks and security protocols and......

Week 7 Discussion Question 3

...Week Seven DQ 3  Post a 150- to 300-word original response to the following discussion question by clicking on Reply and changing the subject line to read:  [Your Name]'s Response  If you own your car or house and are no longer making payments, should you still have insurance on them? Explain why or why not. I'd have to say that if you owned your house out right you'd be crazy not to have that large of an Investment cover by insurance policies... I say policies because I'd want to protect my investment against all kinds of damage. Flood insurance is almost unheard of where I live, but just last year there were houses with basements flooded because of snow melt overflowing the river that has been low for decades... A lesson I don't want to learn the hard way, and have to cover the costs of the repairs out of pocket. It was a complete freak occurance but it dosn't rule out the possibility of it happening again. So now we have flood insurance.  And with the cars the same thing. i didn't buy my car to not have it running and in good condition for as long as I can. And the other drivers on the road are just as unpredictable as the weather. So I personal don't see any reason why you wouldn't have full coverage on your vehicle. It cost just as much to insure it as when you still had to make payments on it. And most cars these days are a whole lot to fix any more. With all of the cars computers and sensors being mounted on the shell of the vehicle. The cost of repairs could......

Chapter 9 Question and Discussion

...Chapter 9 Review Question, Discussion Topic and Project Review Question 1: In the auto shop examples on page 348, what are some problems that might arise in Mario's system? Why won't Danica run into the same problems? Provide specific examples in your answer. Problems that would be exclusive to Mario’s Auto Shop are: increased time spent on entering in the same data, miscalculations could result from having two people entering in the same data and they would not be able to compare all of the data at once. Danica wouldn’t run into those problems because she only has one table and therefore doesn’t have to retype the same data into two different tables. Danica would also be able to compare all of her data on a single screen and would be able to organize the two categories at once. Having only one large table would also reduce time being spent on entering data as opposed to having two separate data tables. Chapter One Topic Questions

...CHAPTER ONE TOPIC QUESTIONS 1. What are the three components of the C.I.A. triangle? What are they used for? The three components of the C.I.A. are: confidentiality (assurance that the information is shared only among authorized persons or organizations); integrity (assurance that the information is complete and uncorrupted); and availability (assurance that the information systems and the necessary data are available for use when they are needed). These three components are frequently used to conveniently articulate the objectives of a security program that must be used in harmony to assure an information system is secure and usable. 2. If the C.I.A. triangle is incomplete, why is it so commonly used in security? The CIA triangle is commonly used in security because it addresses the fundamental concerns of information: confidentiality, integrity and availability. It is still used when not complete because it addresses all of the major concerns with the vulnerability of information systems. 3. Describe the critical characteristics of information. How are they used in the study of computer security? Availability - enables users who need to access information to do so without interference or obstruction and in the required format. The information is said to be available to an authorized user when and where needed and in the correct format. Accuracy- free from mistake or error and having the value that the end-user expects. In high-context cultures, you must look closely and carefully understand a person’s intentions. Their intent is not necessarily in front of you in plain sight, so you must read in between the lines to interpret what they mean. Arab cultures are good examples that exemplify this. It is very common for them to make assumptions about situations from their previous knowledge of the person or the situation. In low-context cultures, information and intent is almost told up front and verbatim. North American culture is a good example of this. Feelings are commonly expressed as direct words and information is readily available. 7. Information systems control how efficient a company is at communicating information in and out of their company. The speed at which the information transfers, however, can vary greatly from culture to culture. For example, in Chinese culture, a lot of information is actually censored whereas in South American culture, information flows more freely. 8. Topic 1: Discussion Question 2

...Topic 1: Discussion Question 2 I reminisce to the excitement of the first day of school as I begin the next chapter of my educational journey. The sweet feeling of unknown, the butterflies in the stomach bring about childhood memories. I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge, the joy of overcoming the challenges and most importantly, earning my BSN. I have my goals set clearly before me and my motivation is strong. I know I can overcome my fear of failure as I have done in the past. My fears almost caused me to give up during my LPN to RN bridge program. I felt overwhelmed and lost confidence in myself. Thankfully I had a strong support system. I was able to refocus on my goals, prioritize and utilize my resources to overcome my fears of failure and succeed. With hard work and determination I regained my confidence and drive to become a professional and a scholar. From that point there was no turning back. I have too much at stake to allow self-doubt to interfere with my goals. Although I encountered a setback during my bridge program I was able to complete it and earn my associate degree. I am glad I had that experience. It made me more confident in myself and more aware of my strengths and weaknesses as a student. I think it is naïve for a person to believe they will never fail. That mid set handicaps a student’s mind. I feel that knowing and accepting one’s fears is the best way to not fall into their depths. References: Lake, A., & von Baeyer, C.......
