Pizzeria del Causamali is a privately owned and operated business in a small town. I picked this business plan because of the similarities that it has to the restaurant that I intend to open in the future. Analyzing this business plan gave me good experience to know what to include and not include in my business plan of my restaurant. The business plan for Pizzeria del Causamali had some great strengths and opportunities that gave me great ideas for later. The weaknesses of the business plan helped me notice what I would have to work on including in my business plan as well. Using some of the questions from chapter 3 in the textbook I quickly discovered what the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats were in the business plan. As I looked over the business plan I noticed some great strengths that both Marion and Marianne Bruxellesprot have for their business. The pizza restaurant will be the first in the town and surrounding area within an hour drive radius. Marianne is a great asset to the company because she holds a degree in Business and has experience. Also they have the assistance of a business advisor who has a Masters degree in Business as well. The marketing techniques to reach their customers including: local newspapers with an introductory coupon, hosting special events, a business website with online offers, and cooperation with other local businesses for creating product combination offers. The operations management plan is small, simple, and appropriate for the size of the operation. The distribution channels for this restaurant are excellent. The owners have chosen a location next to a popular video store, directly in the center of the community. The owners will directly participate in the operation of the establishment and…...

Therefore the segmentation approach as a method to fully comprehend conditions surrounding the firm is significant. Our empirical data, Dell is not an exception. Dell uses both individual and diffusion based segments to identify its target market, and the choice of the strategy (90% as sprinkler, rest to be waterfall strategy). In other words, the efficiency of those strategies is influenced by several factors which also influence the result of segmentations. Merrell’s specializes in delicious pizzas and Italian classics as well as amazing service. Merrell’s currently uses the focus strategy. They concentrate on great service and great food using high quality ingredients. The owner conveyed this to us during our interview, and we also witnessed and experienced this firsthand on our visit. This is an effective strategy because if Merrell’s provides amazing service to its customers and provides its consumers with a delicious product, the customers will keep coming back and will hopefully spread the word. It has developed customer loyalty and through their social network presence word has spread about the restaurant. Employees are empowered to make decisions in order to make each customer’s visit a great and enjoyable experience. The owner is very hands on and there daily. This provides him an opportunity to make any changes or handle any crises that may come up. Merrell’s has a family and friend’s discount and they participate in the Valupak coupon circular. This helps bring in new customers, rewards current customers and builds brand loyalty. When it comes to Merrell’s strengths, the first strength is great dining experience. ...SWOT Analysis SWOT is an acronym used to describe the particular Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats that are strategic factors for a specific company. A SWOT analysis should not only result in the identification of a corporation’s core competencies, but also in the identification of opportunities that the firm is not currently able to take advantage of due to a lack of appropriate resources. The SWOT analysis framework has gained widespread acceptance because it is both simple and powerful for strategy development. However, like any planning tool, SWOT is only as good as the information it contains. Thorough market research and accurate information systems are essential for the SWOT analysis to identify key issues in the environment. Assess your market: * What is happening externally and internally that will affect our company? * Who are our customers? * What are the strengths and weaknesses of each competitor? (Think Competitive Advantage) * What are the driving forces behind sales trends? * What are important and potentially important markets? * What is happening in the world that might affect our company? * What does it take to be successful in this market? (List the strengths all companies need to compete successfully in this market.) Mini Case Analysis: Shannon's Pizzeria

...It's Getting Hot at Shannon's Pizzeria Mini Case Analysis Mohamed Al-Balawi Ryerson University CMHR505 22/05/2015 In any organization or business, there must be a constant structure of hierarchy and a recognized division of labour to maintain consistency and fluidity without the concern for internal turmoil within layers of that organization. This is not the circumstance we see here at Shannon’s Pizzeria. Shannon FitzRandolph may boast an appreciable degree and an impressive resume, but her business could collapse if she does not restructure the organization. Every business needs to divide the work to employees who are specialized or trained to perform that job. The division of labour is necessary to provide efficient results to that business. If you hire a car mechanic to bake your bread every morning, you may not reach your desired results. At Shannon’s Pizzeria, you do not need a high degree of expertise to bake pizzas or manage the store. Even if all employees have equal training, it does not mean you will realize the same performance and reach the same results. There is a structure that exists at Shannon’s Pizzeria, and it is that of a formal hierarchy. Shannon does the ethically correct thing by hiring students to be her employees. Her managers are also of a young age that worked their way up from being a day-shift employee, with no training or education necessary to be promoted. That is where the problem lies. Shannon does not have a constant structure of......

...General Motors SWOT analysis MGT 521 March 31, 2014 Overview of SWOT matrix “The SWOT matrix is an important matching tool that helps managers develop four strategies.” (David, 2011) This matrix is important to any business because it will show the organizations strengths and weaknesses as well as any opportunities and threats that arise. The SWOT analysis is a great tool for strategic planning, however, it is not as useful for showing how to achieve a competitive advantage. The matrix is divided by SO (strengths –opportunities), WO (weaknesses-opportunities), ST (strengths-threats) and WT (weaknesses-threats). Each type gives a different focus for the organization. Internal Weaknesses and Strengths After the recall of April 2012, and the continuous recalls thereafter, there was a negative impact on the company sales. When looking at the Internals of General Motors, leadership plays a role in the weaknesses that it is having today. The internal strengths of General Motors are a strong market position and brand portfolio. General Motors is brand that people know and respect and many are very loyal to the brand. While using this as a factor, General Motors stated to focus on new research and developments that would give them an advantage over their competition. While they were behind Toyota in the energy efficient car, they are making strides to make their bigger vehicles bore fuel efficient. General Motors is also becoming diversified globally.......

...SWOT Analysis Yadira Saunders BUS/211 July 13, 2015 Professor Suzanne Remedies SWOT Analysis With today’s economy taking a toll on many families and individuals lifestyle, it is becoming even more difficult to convince consumers that you, as a business, are what they are looking for. As both economy and business markets rise and fall in nature, businesses must determine “the major goals of the organization and the policies and strategies for obtaining and using resources to achieve those goals. This process is known as strategic planning” (Aqeel Ahmed Khan, 2014). The organization policies are broad guidelines for action and its strategies determine the best way to use the resources at hand. When preparing a business plan it is optimal for the organization to ensure they are aware of what customers they will be serving, when they will be able to provide service, what products and services to sell, and the geographic area in which they will compete for business. Strategic planning is becoming more difficult because changes are occurring so fast that plans, even those set for months into the future, may soon be obsolete. Small-business owners often find themselves in a rapidly changing environment, anticipating trends and determining the best strategies and tactics to achieve the goals set forth may be the ultimate option. The predictable change and strategy to react along with forthcoming change should be included within the business plan. A business plan contains...

...The Advantages of SWOT Analysis Because of the constantly changing conditions in the monetary market, the quick response to challenges becomes more and more important to all companies. However, in order to survive in the economic battle, business owners should make the best use of the SWOT analysis to gain a thorough overview of their business. The SWOT analysis is a management tool that is mainly for observing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of business. It can be used on companies, as well as on persons, to identify their internal and external elements, evaluate the overall conditions, and make strategies and future plans according to the results. As Simoneaux, and Stroud (2011) state in their article “SWOT Analysis: The Annual Check-Up for a Business” that one of the main benefits of the SWOT analysis is that it makes people thinking and preparing in advance to challenges, not the late solution to the problems(2011, p75). However, some people point out that because of the simplicity of either conducting the analysis or the analysis itself, the results of the SWOT analysis may not be as accurate as people think. Although SWOT analysis may not generate specific solutions to the existing or approaching problems, it still has the advantages of low cost, clarity of business‘s overall conditions, and the unlimitedness of applying to any kind of business. The one main advantage of SWOT analysis is the low cost. In recent marketplaces, nearly everyone can......

Hill  (n.d.) " SWOT analysis is a process where the management team identifies the internal and external factors that will affect the company’s future performance" (para. 1). A SWOT analysis is typically used at the beginning stages of the business, after a business plan has been completed, to determine any potential risks or assets. However, an analysis can be completed anytime a change is made internally or externally that can impact the business and is recommended for review of your business every 6 months (Shouldis, 2012).. The Java Culture coffee has completed their business plan for a new coffee shop in a prime location near University of Oregon. They are looking to provide a comfortable and relaxing shop for customers to enjoy coffee with friends while providing excellent customer service. The owners have secured their financing, determined their budget for employees and the day to day needs of the business, lease, and forecasted sales based off the market for the first year. Now the owners will need to complete a SWOT analysis to determine any unseen risks or assets to their business that might be impacting to their success. ...Advantages and disadvantages of using SWOT analysis to develop corporate strategy. Discuss using examples related to at least two companies. Introduction SWOT analysis SWOT analysis can also be called as SLOT analysis which is a strategic planning or direction for making decision based on available resources to determine valuate the Strength, Weaknesses/limitations, Opportunities, and Threats involved in a project or in a small business (business venture). It mentions the objective of business or a collaborative  enterprise project and recognizes the internal, external factors which come in the achieving of objective. This method of analysis is prepared by an American businessman and a management consultant named Albert S Humphrey (Stanford University in the 1960s and 1970s). An objective of a project or a business venture should be only started after the SWOT analysis has been carried out. It would be easy for the organization to achieve its targets/objective. With the help of SWOT analysis decision makers are able to ascertain after a calculation that whether the objective they are planning is capable of been done or not.
