Statistical Databases

...Statistical Databases Jaideep Srivastava and Hung Q. Ngo, Department of Computer Science, University of Minnesota, 200 Union street, EE/CS Building, room 4-192, Minneapolis, MN 55455 e-mail: srivasta, hngo @cs.umn.edu, ¡   1 Introduction A statistical database management system (SDBMS) is a database management system that can model, store and manipulate data in a manner well suited to the needs of users who want to perform statistical analyses on the data. Statistical databases have some special characteristics and requirements that are not supported by existing commercial database management systems. For example, while basic aggregation operations like SUM and AVG are part of SQL, there is no support for other commonly used operations like variance and co-variance. Such computations, as well as more advanced ones like regression and principal component analysis, are usually performed using statistical packages and libraries, such as SAS [1] and SPSS [2]. From the end user’s perspective, whether the statistical calculations are being performed in the database or in a statistical package can be quite transparent, especially from a functionality viewpoint. However, once the datasets to be analyzed grow beyond a certain size, the statistical package approach becomes infeasible, either due to its inability to handle large volumes of data, or the unacceptable computation times which make interactive analysis impossible. With the increasing sophistication of data collection......

Best thing when learning newer terms is to integrated within your writing or having conservations with others to learn how to use them properly. existing lists and Another strategy I would use using the term or word whether in conversation or writing as it would help me familiarize myself more with the term or word. I learned a lot of new applications that I will definitely utilize. I have used Previewing a few times in the past but have never made a habit of it. I think it will be a great thing to start using though. It allows you to get a great feel for how long the chapter is and how long it should take you to read. As well as giving you an idea of what the main topics are going to be. Marking is a great way to condense an entire chapter into just the important ideas. That way when it comes time to studying you already have the important parts highlighted or underlined. I have already started to get ideas for making sure I have a place I can read with concentration. I plan on doing a lot of my reading this summer outside on the patio where I have peace and quiet. When the weather is not permitting or when it gets colder again I plan on going to the library or setting my office up with a corner that I am able to read in. The last of the four steps is going to be very important if I want my study time to be efficient. I will often check back to previous notes and assignments so that the ideas stay......

...Leroy Thomas HIS 211 Topic A Jimmy Hampton June 2, 2014 Jonathan Edwards evoked vivid, terrifying images of the utter corruption of human nature and the terrors awaiting the unrepentant in hell. Jonathan Edwards’s famous description of the sinner as a loathsome spider suspended by a slender thread over a pit of seething brimstone in his best known sermon, “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.”(1741) The First Great Awakening also gained impetus from the wide-ranging American travels of an English preacher, George Whitefield. Although Whitefield had been ordained as a minister in the Church of England, he later allied with other Anglican clergymen who shared his evangelical bent, most notably John and Charles Wesley. Together they led a movement to reform the Church of England (much as the Puritans had attempted earlier to reform that church) which resulted in the founding of the Methodist Church late in the eighteenth century. During his several trips across the Atlantic after 1739, Whitefield preached everywhere in the American colonies, often drawing audiences so large that he was obliged to preach outdoors. What Whitefield preached was nothing more than what other Calvinists had been proclaiming for centuries that sinful men and women were totally dependent for salvation on the mercy of a pure, all-powerful God. But Whitefield and many American preachers who eagerly imitated his style presented that message in novel ways. Gesturing dramatically, sometimes......

Statistical Control

...STATISTICAL CONTROL OF HOT SHOT PLASTIC KEYCHAINS TBD Webster University BUSN6110, Operation and Project Management [ 2/1/2015 ] Abstract This term paper examines a case study with Hot Shot Plastics company in which statistical process control (SPC) with variable measurements using X bar and R control charts is used to determine whether the process variability is in control. Sample data are utilized to demonstrate how to use X bar and R control charts to check if all the sample points are within the control limits. Patterns on the control charts are analyzed to understand the possible reasons that the process is out of control. Keywords: [control charts, statistical process control, patterns] Statistical Control of Hot Shot Plastic Keychains Hot Shot Plastics is a company that produces plastic keychains. During production of plastic keychains, Hot Shot Plastics first molds the plastic material and then trims it to the required shape. The edge quality of the keychains produced is determined by the curetimes during the molding process. The curetime is the time it takes for the plastic to cool. To ensure good quality plastic keychains, Hot Shot Plastics needs to maintain a process that yields accurate and precise curetimes. It is more desirable for the curetimes to be consistent among samples. When the curetimes are repeatable and there is less variability among samples’ curetimes, the process is deemed to be accurate. The R control chart is intended to......

This will help the writer to keep his/her work fair and avoid plagiarism. ...innate or just part of general cognition? The specific way that we acquire language is a contentious debate in the field of linguistics. Some researchers believe that humans are born with an innate, specialized mental module which facilitates the acquisition of language in young children. Other researchers believe that language acquisition occurs through general cognitive capabilities that are not necessarily language-specific. For this topic, you may either a) Choose a position in this debate and defend your position, or b) based on your research into these two sides, discuss what type of argument or evidence would be required to settle this debate in favour of either side. Whichever approach you choose, make sure to focus on specific types of evidence, whether they are phonological, syntactic, or otherwise, and how that evidence bears on the larger question. ...Topic 1: What career would you like to choose after leaving school Model answer: Today, it is not easy to choose a career. Hundreds of students pass various examinations every year and compete with one another for positions in the various professions which are not so many as there are applicants. I would, however, like to choose teaching as my career. Teaching is an interesting career for several reasons. As a teacher I can learn many things, especially if I teach to an udder-secondary school. If I teach History or English, for example, I have to read many books to make my teaching lessons more interesting to my pupils. Thus, I can acquire more knowledge of the subjects that I teach than what I can learn from the class text books. It is indeed a fact that a teacher learns a lot from the class text books; but that is hardly enough to make the teacher's lessons interesting to pupils. A good teacher must therefore read many other books. Again, as a teacher, I have to speak well so that my pupils will be able to understand my instructions well. In this way I can improve my powers of expression. Even my pronunciation of words will improve to great extent. Further, as a teacher, I shall have enough leisure to read and prepare for various examinations. It is possible today to sit for many important examinations by studying entirely at home. Thus, I can acquire important qualifications. Finally, as a teacher I will be respected as an educated person. People will......
