How to Write an Article Review
An article review is both a summary and an evaluation of another writer's article. Teachers often assign article reviews to introduce students to the work of experts in the field. Experts also are often asked to review the work of other professionals. Understanding the main points and arguments of the article is essential for an accurate summation. Logical evaluation of the article's main theme, supporting arguments and implications for further research is an important element of a review. Here are a few guidelines for writing an article review.

Writing Your Own Review

1

Read the article several times. Begin by looking quickly at the opening statements, headings and opening sentences of each paragraph and the conclusion. Then go back to the beginning and read the article in its entirety. Reading the article a third time with a highlighter or pen in hand allows for making notes or highlighting important sections.

2

Create a summary outline. This is an outline of the main points made in the article and the supporting research or arguments. It is strictly a restatement of the main points of the article and does not include your opinions.
Review the summary outline to eliminate unnecessary items. Erase or cross out the less important arguments or supplemental information.

3

Write an outline of your opinions. Review each item in the summary outline to determine whether the author was accurate and clear. Write down in outline form all instances of effective writing, new contributions to the field, as well as areas of the article that need improvement. Create a list of strengths and weaknesses. The strength of the article may be that it presents a clear summation of a particular issue. Its weakness may be that it does not offer any new…...

Marketing - Chanel, Nike, Hot Topic

...more types of clothing exist than the actual number of people. With so many different alternatives of fashion, the fashion industry is trying to please too many customers with variety. There are currently various styles to choose from, and the clothes people wear categorize or label them long before they realize it. The three fashion brands that will be analyzed extensively are Chanel, Nike, and Hot Topic. These brands have apparel but are completely different in their target audience. Chanel is a prestigious high-fashion brand; Nike is a popular athletic line; Hot Topic is musically and artistically edgier with a smaller target audience between the three. With these apparel brands, a person wearing each would be labeled or even stereotyped. One wearing a Chanel’s 2012 Spring/Summer ready-to-wear designer outfit with a white jacket, lambskin dress with pearls, and a glass pearl belt would be labeled as rich, successful, and intelligent. Another wearing Nike running apparel consisting of a shirt, shorts, and footwear is someone athletic and always on the go. An individual in a Hot Topic black graphic music t-shirt with plug piercings would be stereotyped as “Goth”, tough, or edgy. 2. 2. | | | Geographic | * Located at tourist hot-spots * Found in shopping malls or shopping streets * Fashion Capitals * Where social status is important * Higher standard costs of living * North America: U.S.A, Mexico, Canada * Asia * Europe * Middle East *......

...Is the Social Security system based on the same principles as private insurance? The answer to this question is no. Social Security is a pay-you-go system and an inter-generational income transfer program where taxes are collected from present workers to pay current benefits. Unlike private insurance companies, surplus taken in is put into is invested into government bonds that the government both pays and receives interest on. These investments are nothing like the private insurance system. Social Security is based on IOU’s from the treasury department that has no value. Do you think workers should be permitted to invest all or part of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement account? I personally think that current workers should have an option to invest their entire Social Security into their own personal retirement accounts because our current system is outdated and underfunded. By the time present worker reach retirement, there won’t be any funding left. Having our person retirement account will allow present and future workers to take ownership of our personal retirements. I believe if we took this route, our Social Security payments each month would be less than what we are currently paying into the government’s outdated system. How does Social Security affect the economic well-being of blacks relative to whites and Hispanics? Due to a shorter life expectancy of blacks, Social Security is adversely affect because blacks are more likely......

Global brand names can achieve substantial production and purchasing economies of scale and, as world travel increases, so does the importance of instantly recognisable products. With a product portfolio which includes eight of the thirty top selling confectionery brands, such as Quality Street, Aero, Smarties, Polo and Rowntree’s Fruit Pastilles, Milky Bar and After Eight, it is extremely important that the marketing objectives for each product line are fully compatible with the overall objectives of the company as a whole. Like any group of individuals, each product has its own character, strengths and weaknesses and consequently, the marketing objectives of each product need to be specifically tailored. Objectives What is the company trying to achieve? In which direction are we headed? Strategy Tactics How can we get there? What specific actions need to be taken, by whom and when? How can we judge whether we are being successful in achieving our objectives? How do we measure our success or failure? ...Topic 1: What career would you like to choose after leaving school Model answer: Today, it is not easy to choose a career. Hundreds of students pass various examinations every year and compete with one another for positions in the various professions which are not so many as there are applicants. I would, however, like to choose teaching as my career. Teaching is an interesting career for several reasons. As a teacher I can learn many things, especially if I teach to an udder-secondary school. If I teach History or English, for example, I have to read many books to make my teaching lessons more interesting to my pupils. Thus, I can acquire more knowledge of the subjects that I teach than what I can learn from the class text books. It is indeed a fact that a teacher learns a lot from the class text books; but that is hardly enough to make the teacher's lessons interesting to pupils. A good teacher must therefore read many other books. Again, as a teacher, I have to speak well so that my pupils will be able to understand my instructions well. In this way I can improve my powers of expression. Even my pronunciation of words will improve to great extent. Further, as a teacher, I shall have enough leisure to read and prepare for various examinations. It is possible today to sit for many important examinations by studying entirely at home. Thus, I can acquire important qualifications. Finally, as a teacher I will be respected as an educated person. People will......

...The United State Constitution CJ 310-02 Criminal Law April 7, 2011 In Criminal law, there is an ancient proposition saying,” no crime without law, no punishment without law. That in criminal law is based on the principle of legality. The ancient saying means that no one can be convicted or punished, unless there is a law that defines it’s as a crime. The case of Treva Hughes, Ms Hughes was driving while under the influence. She ran into Ms. Reesa Poole and killing her unborn child and was convicted. The Appeals Court reversed her conviction because the law didn’t give Ms. Hughes fair warning that it included the unborn in homicide stature. An Ex Post Facto Laws criminalizes an act that was innocent when it was committed. It is the clearest example of ex post facto laws, they’re also the rarest. Ex Post Facto also increases the punishment for a crime after the crime was committed. Just as clear an rare like the first one. An example is raising the age of statutory rape form 16 to 21. Finally it takes away a defense that was available to a defendant when the crime was committed. The Ex Post Facto ban is protect private individuals by ensuring that legislature give them a fair warning about criminal and that they can rely on that requirement. The other purpose is to prevent legislators form passing arbitrary and vindictive laws. The Void-for-Vagueness Doctrine takes aim similar to the ban on ex post facto.
