The Process of Phantom Eviction

...The Practice of Phantom Eviction Having an unwanted guest in the home is never an easy thing and something no one likes to deal with, especially when that guest is a soul stuck between the living and the dead. Recognizing the presence of a spirit, ghost, or phantom, in the home is usually hard for us to do. However, when we do come to terms with the fact that there is indeed a phantom lurking about in our home, preying on our fears, having a simple field guide to direct us is a must have, and I have provided here just such an effective tool to use along the journey of evicting any disembodied nuisance from the home. During phase one, what we need to remember is that most phantoms will not try to harm us, so being afraid and rushing to take drastic measures against the phantom is not the best initial approach. Often times, this will only make the phantom angry and cause him to become more unruly in the home. To easily rid the home of this entity, try taking a calm and passive approach. Don’t simply ask the phantom to leave because that would be too abrupt. Create a civil relationship with the phantom by respecting it’s presence even if it is not welcomed. Start by cooking something delicious every evening in your home, as if entertaining Martha Stewart. Who doesn’t love the aroma of a good pork tenderloin seasoned with salt, garlic, and sage, cooking in the oven?! Most phantoms will get the hint that they are not invited to this tasty dinner and excuse themselves from......

Shifting Technologies

...Nothing lasts forever, and shifting technologies and market conditions can render once strong assets as obsolete. Within the past decade, technology has become a norm within society. If you don’t have a cell phone by the age of eight, one is not fitting the normal standard. A perfect example of shifting technologies would include tollbooths. Tollbooths across the turnpike had individuals working twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week to physically collect driver’s money. Slowly, today’s well known Florida Sunpass was introduced on April 24, 1999 (Sunpass). As the convenient device became popular, the need for physical employees at tollbooths began to diminish as more Sunpass tollbooths were built. Having this in mind, growing up I have seen people-run cash registers evolve to self checkouts, mailing out checks evolve to paying via internet in the convenience of your own home, etc. Growing up in the era of change, if I had a business, understanding the evolving technologies around us can keep a business afloat. Keeping in mind the many changes within the company I currently work for, I would probably use the same strategies. For one, we have evolved from using spreadsheets, manual work, and onsite servers to developing software to hold, gather and populate our information on the cloud. But why stop there! Developing software for our company’s demands may be helpful to other businesses within our same field. Therefore, why not make it available to the public......

The Phantom Tollbooth Final Respnse

...Milo ’s journey is one that I know he is bound to never forget. During this journey he endures much wisdom and knowledge as he visits many locations such as dictionopolis, the forest of sight, valley of sound, and digitopolis, where he is intrigued by the many facts forced upon him. Like Milo I would need to spend more time in dictionopolis which includes the market, the Which, and the gift of words. “We determine if we use a word correctly by the way it is stated to us, or how it is used in a sentence.” Those are the very words I was saying to myself, when I notice I was lost in the Doldrums and could not find my way out. Do I go left, right, up, or down? My god, how did I even get here? I want to go ……And before I could even finish my sentence the not so wicked Which stood before me. The first question I asked was “Where am I?” And she clearly stated “Well, you already know where you are, the question you should be asking is how you got here. I mean that would be the more logical question to ask if you indeed really want to get out of here.” Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mumbled…So what am I doing here in these unpleasant doldrums. She replied saying “This is where you end up when you don’t pay attention and don’t think. I cried out “Don’t Pay Detention…. Lady I pay to get out of Detention every time I get one.” And she quickly responded “My point exactly.” You see I said when you don’t pay ATTENTION!!!! Not pay DETENTION, You ignorant child!!!!! They will listen to the story while drawing their ideas of what Harold’s journey looks like. After finishing and comparing drawings among their classmates, the teacher will re-tell the story while showing the class Crockett Johnson’s original drawings. This activity allows children to see how words may affect people differently, encourage them to listen, comprehend, and evaluate the story, and get them interested in visualizing stories for themselves. Phantom of the Opera

...named Raoul suddenly comes back to her life and eventually they get engaged. Christine’s “Angel of Music” turns out to be a mortal man whose face is horribly disfigured and who also has haunted the opera house as the “phantom”. He’s been living under the opera house in its cellars for years and is obsessively in love with Christine. He kidnaps Christine and Raoul must try to save her at the very bottom of the opera house. Raoul saves Christine and they live happily ever after. After Christine’s death years later, Raoul notices a red rose with a diamond ring on her grave that looks exactly like the ring the phantom gave to Christine (the phantom really did leave the ring and rose) meaning the phantom is still alive and will never ever stop loving Christine – even after she’s long gone. The Novel “Le Fantome de l’Opera” was somewhat easy to read. I also enjoyed the book 100%. I ‘am absolutely a huge “Phantom of the Opera” fan and forever will be. The plot is so romantic and mysterious to me. I did have to look up a few words, not so many though. The author Gaston Leroux definitely did have “Langan’s Four Steps to Good Writing”. The incident I was most affected by was when Christine chose Raoul over the phantom. I really think she should have stayed with the phantom. What I learned from reading the novel is that when it all comes down to the wire, people really just want to be loved for who they are. I would definitely read more novels by the author and recommend the novel to......

Gothic Elements in Frankenstein and Phantom of the Opera

...The dark, scary, and terrifying all contribute to the genre known as gothic literature. These elements can all be depicted in multiple ways however. Mysterious, supernatural beings and deeply felt emotions are the two that most directly apply to The Phantom of the Opera composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Frankenstein written by Mary Shelley. The Phantom of the Opera brings forth a love-crazed sociopath who strives to flourish his love with a lead soprano in an opera house. The Phantom inflicts terror and pain into “those who come between” (Webber) him and Christine, the soprano he cares for. The Phantom acts as an angel-like being, seeking to protect Christine and his opera house no matter the cost. He is an omniscient, mysterious character and throughout the play, little is revealed about his true identity. The Phantom’s deep emotional connection with Christine is also present throughout the play . and causes him to act in irrational ways The Phantom has a growing discontent with Christine due to her not loving him in “'the same way that he does to her. Throughout the play, The Phantom kills off the surrounding characters in order to draw himself closer to Christine, yet finally vanishes into thin air when he finally wins her love (Webber). Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein focuses on a dedicated scientist, Victor Frankenstein, who’s infatuation with creating new life lead to the creation of a repulsive creature. Frankenstein’s Monster is successfully created from......

...fares and reduce the cost electronically from the amount of money that the user places on the card. Instead of waiting at the tollbooth to pay a toll, passengers use RFID chip-embedded passes like debit cards(Bonsor, 2007; Fenlon 2007). This technology is also used to enhance driving safety, reduce vehicle collisions, and also used to reduce vehicle emissions. The Midland, Mich.-based chemical and plastics producer already has implemented an RFID system combined with global positioning system technology for its rail fleet and will begin another pilot program for intermodal containers this year(Katz, 2006). The Dow Chemical Co. has affixed rail cars with RFID tags that provide information about what is in the cars along with a GPS system that informs the company about the car’s location (Katz, 2006). With the help of intermodal pilot, Dow is looking to gain improved visibility of cargo as it moves to international ports. RFID has various applications in transportation. Its implementation has been widely accepted where toll roads have been implemented. It is used in electronic payment system. E-Z Pass and FasTrak systems that are used on highways in some parts of the United States are used to collect tolls of highway and bridges. Milo as a Hero in the Phantom Tollbooth

...There are six parts to both inner and outer journeys as a hero, and Milo from the Phantom Tollbooth goes through all of these steps in his journey to find who he is. This journey is an outer journey because he physically leaves home and goes to an unknown place. It’s also an inner journey because he mentally leaves not knowing who he is or what he’s doing with his life, but when he returns, he is grateful for his life and realizes where he went wrong previously. Therefore, Milo seems to be a hero. Taking both an inner and outer journey which qualifies as a hero journey seems to make him a hero, but there are other reasons that are shown in the story that make him a hero. In the Phantom Tollbooth, Milo takes both an outer and an inner journey in the story, and there are qualities in the story that make him a hero. Before Milo leaves his home, he doesn’t know exactly what he’s doing with his life. If he’s one place, he wants to be somewhere else, or if he’s doing one thing he always wants to do another thing. When he finds an automobile and a tollbooth at his home, he sets it up because he has never had much adventure in his life. Therefore, he completes the first step of an outer journey: leaving home. Once he leaves home, he arrives at two towns— Digitopolis and Dictionopolis. He meets many confusing people on his way along his journey, and receives help from most of them, which completes step two of an outer journey. In this sense, he is travelling from known to unknown,......
