Since my group has chosen to target workhorses in Chicago, we need to look at the demands and preferences of our target market pertaining to our computer product. After analyzing the data provided of the preferences of the workhorses segment, it would be wise to build a basic desktop computer. The computer will be have the basic component 300 and a standard case, two mechanisms that does not offer any alternatives. When it comes to computing power we can stay with the standard 330. The high speed 420 is not needed when targeting workhorses. They do not value fast and powerful as much as they value the other aspects. The hard drive can be upgraded to 60 since workhorses want to be able to store a lot of data in their computers, more so than Mercedes and Travelers. Though the actual number is near each other between the three segments, workhorses place the ability to store a lot of data higher than other two segments. Monitor can stay at 17 inch, since workhorses does not need its computer to look good. Office software is a must for workhorses. Bookkeeping, presentations, and games are also needed to make up a computer that the workhorses would buy. Database is optional; I would not put it into the first line of product. I would also have no networking features for the first launch of the computer targeting workhorses. The total component cost would amount to $952, which is relatively cheap while still adding a lot of value that workhorses would demand. Workhorses are willing to pay around $2,500. I would price it higher than $2,500 then offer a rebate. It could possibly create a psychological value in their minds since the pricing shows a discount.
On the marketing side, I would design an ad that fits our target market segment. I would highlight the price and the functions of our product. I would hire 4 sales people, and 2 will focus on sales to…...
