Introduction of JDB Group

JDB Group is a Chinese manufacturer of nonalcoholic beverages; these include the red-canned herbal drink, Wong Lo Kat and other tea ranges. JDB was founded by Hong Kong businessman Chan Hung-to in Guangzhou in 1995 after he acquired the licensing rights to Wong Lo Kat, an herbal tea brand established in Guangzhou more than 150 years ago.
The herbal tea is popular in southern China. It is made from herbs and is believed to be able to lower internal heat and relieve inflammation. With a sharp business sense, Chan positioned Wong Lo Kat as a healthy, mass market soft drink and packaged it in eye-catching red aluminum cans emblazoned with bold golden Chinese characters.
The company also built large production lines and established a widespread sales network through supermarkets, grocery stores and restaurants in Guangdong.
The efforts paid off as annual sales of Wong Lo Kat grew rapidly to reach 100 million Yuan in 2000. From 2003, the company started to expand beyond Guangdong. It built plants in Beijing, Zhejiang and Fujian, and invested heavily in marketing and television advertising, making the sweet-tasting beverage known across the country. Sales shot up to 600 million Yuan in 2003.
Four years later, JDB surpassed Coca-Cola as the biggest seller of canned drinks on the mainland, with annual sales of 17 billion Yuan, according to statistics from the China Industrial Information Issuing Centre.

Making Sense in God's Country

...Making sense in God’s country. Introduction Percival Everett‘s novel God’s Country, positions race in the forefront of the narrative in a most satirical and subversive way. Typically, the western poses a bad guy against a good guy, with the bad guy dressed in black, and the good guy wearing white. Everett juxtaposes black and white in an altogether different way, revising the pattern of the western through its portrayal of character. Making sense in God’s country, need to be dealt through different protagonist’s point of view. For instance, what makes sense for Marder doesn’t necessarily make sense for Bubba or the Injuns. And conversely, what makes sense for the heathens doesn’t make sense for the Yuk Yuks. Let us study what’s the conception of “making sense” for the baddies (the white men) and the goodies (the Indians, the black man). Paragraph 1 In God’s Country, Everett uses the western genre to demonstrate the absurdities inherent in racism. God’s Country‘s revision of the mythic West and the western genre is seen through the myopic eyes of an ignorant white man: Marder. When Happy Bear gives a horse to Jake, Marder is amazed “I was fit to be tied. Didn’t make no sense, a free horse. And for a child. What was wrong with these people? Heathens.” (64) According to him, this didn’t make sense and was necessarily a misdeed “it was no doubt an attempt to corrupt his young mind and trick him into trusting the savages.” Everett......

Business in Other Countries

...Business Comm. Business in other Countries When working in the global commercial environment, you need to consider the cultural mandates of each country in which you do business, and you will also need to ensure you obey both local and international laws. Knowledge of the impact of cultural differences is one of the keys to international business success. Improving levels of cultural awareness can help companies build international competencies and enable individuals to become more globally sensitive to the social norms of different countries. Cultures vary widely from country to country, and what might seem polite in the United States can be rude and unprofessional in another location. In some countries, for example, in China you'll be expected to dress very formally and be highly direct. In others, however, small talk, getting to know your client and frequent informal business meetings are the norm. Doing business always involves meeting and greeting people. In China, meetings start with the shaking of hands and a slight nod of the head. Usually clients aren’t overly vigorous when shaking hands, the Chinese may interpret this as aggressive. The Chinese are not keen on physical contact, the only circumstance in which it may take place is when a host is guiding a guest. Even then contact will only be made by holding a cuff or sleeve. Also, it is not wise to slap, pat, or put your arm around someone's shoulders. The giving of gifts does not carry any negative......

Comparison of Unemployment Policies with Other Countries

... Comparison of Unemployment Policies with Other Countries (Their Effects and Results) Unemployment policies refers to those procedures that are put in place and are to be followed incase employed individuals loses their jobs. These kinds of policies are more common in developed countries and are meant to caution individuals from unexpected loss of their monthly income (Tanner 2003). The state may be directly involved in the administration of such policies or may authorize another organization to administer the policies. The benefits from unemployment policies depends on the country one resides and in most cases the policies are flexible implying that the benefits could only be covering the basic needs or may compensate the an individual proportionately according to previous monthly income. In Canada, the state has authorized services Canada which is under the supervision of minister of human development and social development Canada to administer the policy fund. The policy was previously known as unemployment insurance but was renamed to employment insurance in 2011 so as to eliminate the negative effect associated with the name. According to the insurance policy that is provided by the employment insurance an employee is required to pay premiums of 1.78% of the amount expected to be received in case they lose their jobs. The employer is also obliged to pay 140% of the amount contributed by employee towards the employee employment policy (Mendelson & Battle 2011)...

New Product

...The “P” in SCAMPER refers to refers to “put to other uses” meaning how to put the current solution, product, or process to other purposes or uses, or what to reuse from somewhere else to solve the problem at hand. One classical manifestation of putting to other use is finding an alternative market for a product when one market dries up, or seeking a new client when the contract with one client terminates. Typical questions in brainstorming to this effect include: What are the other markets for a product? What other outputs can this process generate? Where else can this process find deployment? Who else can use this product or service, and for what purpose? How many different ways does this product find use? Will this product work in other places? Who else finds this product useful? How to enhance the value of the product without changing the intended use? Are there completely different uses for any product?  Some manufacturers have figured out that there are multiple uses and have built advertising campaigns around these “non-traditional” uses.  WD-40 and duct tape have web sites devoted to the myriad “other uses” for their products.  One of the large soft drink manufacturers has sponsored a cook-off for recipes that use their product as an ingredient. WD 40 The best product featuring “put to other use” from creativity tool SCAMPER in today’s world would be WD 40 that not only showcases a few uses but has a huge list of varied uses. ...differentiated product from competitors. They will be able to create competitive advantage in the battery power and duration by using cutting edge technology to develop greater battery power and efficiency. As a customer oriented company, Yamaha provides exceptional after-sales support and technical support for its customers as well as, improved performance and vehicle quality. The Chevy Volt gives 38 miles per gallon on electric power after which, it switches to gasoline range extender. The new battery pack upgrade gives at least 40 miles per gallon as of 2015. Volt is recharged on 120-volt power overnight- 10-16 hours. It uses the Lithium Ion battery with 17.1kWh. The way that Yamaha can differentiate with this feature is to partner with a third party expert and obtain a patent for solar panel technology that would be installed in the roof of the car. By doing this, it would allow for solar recharging throughout the day. In keeping with the ongoing changes in people’s way of life, there is a need for innovation. Innovation refers to the process which ideas are transformed into new offerings, including products, services, processes, and branding concepts that will help firms grow (Grew & Levy, 2015, p. 255 - 256). In the absences of innovation, there will not be changes in consumer’s way of life. More so, the market will be saturated with the same product and service that will leave the corporation with limited options. Example, continue to offer the same products and......

Business in Other Countries

...Global vs. International Business We are trying to expand our bicycle business to three new countries. Right now we are domestic in the United States, but we hope that will change in the vast future. We are first faced with the question of whether we are global or international. Obviously the goal for the bicycle company is to be global since we would expand our company in having a physical site overseas. In order to have a physical presence in other countries we may have to buy out a local, favored brand name. So we have to keep that in mind for the future of our business. Base of the Pyramid In order to sell a more expensive product, such as a bicycle, we need to make sure we aren't selling to a civilization that's on the base of the pyramid (earning $2000 or less per year). We would like to sell in an area where market participants earn in the second to top tier ranges in the pyramid. According to Trade Economics (2015), the per capita GDP's for our countries sit at: Japan- $37,595.18, Costa Rica- $5,962.38, and Pakistan- $818.87. Out of the three, the best country to go sell to is Japan if we are solely basing this on affordability. Costa Rica is in the second tier as preferred, but cutting it close to the base of the pyramid. Pakistan may not necessarily be able to afford our product as they sit at the base. Political Systems Japan is a constitutional monarchy which allows one branch of command to limit and balance the power of the monarch. Costa Rica is a......

The New Product

...The New Product 2 Introduction There are so many electronics due to the technology age and today they continue to keep coming. Here in the United States we have so many choices of stores to get the equipment we want. The best store in my opinion is Best Buy due to the convenience, choice of goods, and customer service. This is not by chance as they have been around for a good amount of time and are well known. There are different performance measures that indicate how well a store like this operates and will continue to operate. The following discussion will show how the degree of operating leverage, return on investment (ROI), economic value added (EVA), and inventory turnover ratio is computed. You will also see how the store finished up for the 2012 fiscal year. Degree of Operating Leverage and ROI You must first know what the definition of the degree of operating leverage and ROI is before you can actually begin to know how to compute them. “The degree of operating leverage defined is a type of leverage ratio summarizing the effect a particular amount of operating leverage has on a company's earnings before interest and taxes” according to Investopedia (2012). A return on investment also defined by Investopedia (2012) “is a performance measure used to evaluate the efficiency of an investment or to compare the efficiency of a number of different investments”. Table 3-1 will......
