The Strategy Process, Organizational Behavior, and Leadership in Organizations

...Week Five: The Strategy Process, Organizational Behavior, and Leadership in Organizations Shavonne Herriot July 2, 2012 Barry Foster PhD The company that I work for, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is going through expansion and restructuring. Because of this I was given the opportunity to determine the position that best suits me. They are allowing me to define my role within the company so that I will most benefit the company and be most successful. This is going to be an exceptional experience for me. This will allow me utilize the skills that I have learned through my schooling to benefit the company. Instead of choosing one leadership model to follow, I believe it would be most beneficial to combine two different ones. The leadership models I decided to use were the Affiliative Leadership Model and the Coaching Leadership Model. By definition “the affiliative leader was one of six leadership types documented.  The affiliative leader promotes harmony among followers, and helps to solve conflict.  By making sure followers feel connected to each other, this leader is adept at building teams” ("Money-Zine", 2004-2012). Affiliative leaders revolve around people. They pride themselves in their ability to keep their employees happy and create a harmonious working environment. They build strong emotional bonds with their employees and foster loyalty. People work at their best when they are satisfied. If they are in an environment that fosters great......

...Organizational Behavior (OB) is the study and application of knowledge about how people, individuals, and groups act in organizations. It does this by taking a system approach. Its purpose is to build better relationships by achieving human objectives, organizational objectives, and social objectives. As you can see from the definition above, organizational behavior encompasses a wide range of topics, such as human behavior, change, leadership, teams, etc. Success isn’t  a destination it’s a process.   And the margin between successes is often  small.  Ob is all about  studying  the principles of defining  nd achieving success in your organization and life. Organization Behavior

...ORGANIZATON BEHAVIOR and DEVELOPMENT By: Disha Patel A graduate paper submitted In partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Masters of Science in Accountancy COLLEGE OF BUSINESS BENEDICTINE UNIVERSITY Lisle, Illinois USA November 18, 2013 Organization Behavior and Development has been a major topic in every business around the world. It is how every organization is built. The environment in an organization is created by organizational culture, behavior, diversity, and communication. The culture in an organization guides the actions of all the employees through shared values and beliefs. Diversity is the differences in race, gender, ethnicity, and how well it is received in the organization. Additionally, communication is also important, if there is an absence of communication it creates barrier between employees, hindering creativity, and disrupting the work environment. The organization that I had worked for in the past is a great example of an organization behavior gone wrong. It is 6:00 AM on Monday my alarm rings, I turn it off and try going back to sleep. When it dawns on me, I am starting my new job today. I get up quickly and get ready to head out. I am so excited and nervous at the same time that I am shaking. It is five minutes before 8:00 AM. I park my car, and head through the employee entrance. As I walk in I see the same woman that I saw on the 16th June 2010 when I came for my interview, I walk up to her and......

...1. Introduction and Organizational Context We chose the topic of Merger and Acquisition as they are very relevant and prevalent in the current time. Still, acquisitions are tricky. Corporate cultures need to mesh, as do revenue and expense synergies. While CEO's often see themselves as empire builders looking to grow their companies by any means necessary, the reality is that successful acquisitions that really help companies long-term are in the minority. There are many factors involved during M&A such as: volume and valuation, growth, TMT convergence, talent management, business transformation to name a few. According to our case study one of the most important aspects that we believe during this process is leadership and change management but at the same time it is also very important to emphasize on employee satisfaction. Of course, there are conflicts during any such big change and there will be instances that require tough decisions on part of leaders but an important thing during this change is to focus on the big picture. The company chosen for our case study will be referred as Company A and Company B hereafter: Company A: It is a big firm of about 1800 employees. They started out by reselling technology products and gradually made their presence in commercial ranging from Finance, Healthcare, media etc. and government domains ranging from security to big data analysis. Their goal behind acquisition as stated by their CEO is: “We want to be the world’s largest......
