Six Dimensions of Health Worksheet

Part 1

For each of the following six dimensions of health, list at least one characteristic, activity, belief, or attitude that reflects that dimension in your life. Provide a brief explanation with each example. Refer to Ch. 1 in the text for explanations of these dimensions.

Physical health: The characteristics of physical health can include a few things but being at a good weight that is proportionate to their height is a good characteristic. Having some type of cardio is always a good activity to pursue in maintaining this. Physical health is most definitely in my daily routine I am always getting my heart rate up and trying to eat the right things to be sure I stay healthy.

Social health: Is being capable of having interpersonal relationships, having normal interactions in social situations and using appropriate behaviors in society. Social health is very important for over all good health. If your social health is not in order you would most likely be incapable of acting appropriate around others, and in society. In my life social health is very important not only when talking about my husband and I’s relationship, it is also critical when showing my children how to behave appropriately.

Intellectual health: Is the ability to think clearly, and have good deductive reasoning skills and overall knowledge and logic of basic concepts. Intellectual health is what helps us make good choices, learn from our mistakes and continue to learn and implement that newfound knowledge. Staying intellectually healthy is not only important because of my family but because it will help me adapt to the ever changing world around me.

Environmental health: The characteristics of environmental health are having respect for your world and to try in what other words means “go green”. Having environmental…...

...victor bautista 01/25/12 ENG-105 Mary Mandley Schizophrenia: Is Recovery a Viable Option? Schizophrenia is a mental illness of chronic nature that affects people of all walks of life. It is estimated that about 1% of Americans suffer from this disease. Though it ranks high in the consciousness of the public very little is known about the illness. The concept of Schizophrenia has caused much mass confusion due to the influence of pharmaceutical companies, media, government, and mental health professionals who have shaped the perception of the public in a negative way. Schizophrenia is not an imposed death sentence in which patients are shackled and placed behind bars for the protection of society, it is a treatable disorder that can be controlled and kept at bay. The motive of this paper is to explain the phenomenon of Schizophrenia and to tackle the two main views associated with the potential satisfactory recovery of the illness. Mental illnesses have existed for many years. Long ago, the people who suffered from mental illnesses, deformities, and mental retardation were all classified into one group; abnormal. Early theories speculated that these people had acquired these “abnormalities” due to their bodies being possessed by evil spirits. These evil spirits would ultimately be exorcised by various methods ranging from submitting the patient to various types of music to dangerously drilling a hole in their skull to free them from evil possession. The act...

...Renewable Energy hotmail2008 Table of Contents Executive Summary 2 Introduction 3 Wind Energy Data 5 Analysis 6 Conclusion 8 Bibliography 9 Executive Summary The majority of our nation’s energy is highly dependent on finite fossil energy sources, like coal and oil. Using fossil fuels to create electricity creates emissions that are both harmful to the environment and our health. Renewable energy sources provide a clean and viable long term alternative to fossil fuels. Renewable energy is energy generated by natural resources in the form of solar, wind, geothermal, hydroelectric, and tidal waves. Among the diversity of renewable energy, wind energy is the fastest growing power technology in the world. According to the U.S. government Energy Information Administration, the production of wind energy will be at least 20% by the year 2030. This report will prove the validity of this statement by using hypothesis analysis. Hypothesis analysis will reject the null hypothesis that wind energy production will be less then 20% in favor of the alternate hypothesis that states wind energy production will be at least 20% or greater. Introduction The majority of our nation’s energy is produced from the burning of fossil fuels, like coal, oil, and natural gas. Life as we know it and our economy revolves around these finite resources. Unfortunately, with our great demand for energy, especially gasoline, world production of oil has already reached its......

Tonight you will hear testimonies and research to attest to the ways our opportunity to thrive has been cut short. As 40 congregations and community organizations making up Communities Creating Opportunity we have already had significant success such as $10 million for home repair, soccer leagues serving 700 kids, zoning ordinances restricting blight and predatory lending practices, children’s health insurance for 11,000 additional kids, and most recently the launching of a new credit option for families that provides short term and small dollar loans called Fair Community Credit. We celebrate these accomplishments. CCO worked in partnership with the FDIC worked for over two years to launch Fair Community Credit, an alternative product to predatory loans and it is now its own independent entity! Through CCO’s work to support good credit options for Kansas Citians we have captured the attention of Governor Nixon and Treasurer Zwiefel, banks and credit unions, private foundations and individuals. Already nearly quarter of a million has been raised or pledged to support fair credit in Kansas City. Fair Community Credit is now......

...Leroy Thomas HIS 211 Topic A Jimmy Hampton June 2, 2014 Jonathan Edwards evoked vivid, terrifying images of the utter corruption of human nature and the terrors awaiting the unrepentant in hell. Jonathan Edwards’s famous description of the sinner as a loathsome spider suspended by a slender thread over a pit of seething brimstone in his best known sermon, “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.”(1741) The First Great Awakening also gained impetus from the wide-ranging American travels of an English preacher, George Whitefield. Although Whitefield had been ordained as a minister in the Church of England, he later allied with other Anglican clergymen who shared his evangelical bent, most notably John and Charles Wesley. Together they led a movement to reform the Church of England (much as the Puritans had attempted earlier to reform that church) which resulted in the founding of the Methodist Church late in the eighteenth century. During his several trips across the Atlantic after 1739, Whitefield preached everywhere in the American colonies, often drawing audiences so large that he was obliged to preach outdoors. What Whitefield preached was nothing more than what other Calvinists had been proclaiming for centuries that sinful men and women were totally dependent for salvation on the mercy of a pure, all-powerful God. But Whitefield and many American preachers who eagerly imitated his style presented that message in novel ways. Gesturing dramatically, sometimes......

Mainly, to survive in this evolving world, generally, everything is based on Capital. In order to live a productive lifestyle, it requires education, wellness, finances, and persistence. In order to be successful driven, collaboration of a system should consist of planning, organizing, and generate an action. In health care, marketing is “the process of planning and executing the conception, pricing, promotion, and distribution of ideas, goods, and service to create exchanges that satisfy individual and organizational objectives”. (University Of Phoenix, 2011, para. The Meaning of Marketing). It also mentions, these “basics are to use a quality system where metrics are defined and where physicians follow agreed-upon clinical protocols, and are aligned with the organizations that manage the defined patient population.” This strategic marketing process consists of relationships. ...innate or just part of general cognition? The specific way that we acquire language is a contentious debate in the field of linguistics. Some researchers believe that humans are born with an innate, specialized mental module which facilitates the acquisition of language in young children. Other researchers believe that language acquisition occurs through general cognitive capabilities that are not necessarily language-specific. For this topic, you may either a) Choose a position in this debate and defend your position, or b) based on your research into these two sides, discuss what type of argument or evidence would be required to settle this debate in favour of either side. A List of Good Argumentative Essay Topics About Health for College Students

...In this day of age, most people are extremely concerned about their health and ways to keep fit. You can tell by seeing how people act; they go the gym all the time, they eat less food and they might even take diet supplements to maintain a ‘healthy’ body. However, is that really what health is all about? Are people under some sort of misconception? When you are writing an argumentative essay in college, you should think of different topics related to health. It might be difficult to come up with some great topics, but here are a few to get you started: Should people take diet supplements as part of their diet? Diet supplements are supposed to be natural, but many manufacturers add artificial ingredients in it to enhance the effects of weight loss. However, this comes at the cost of the person’s health. Indeed, the person will lose more weight for sure, but his health will also deteriorate due to the ingredients. Do you think this is ethical? Should this be illegal? You have plenty of things to talk about in your essay! Is gym hurting or helping our body? People go to the gym all the time nowadays. Not that it’s bad, but are the effects really that useful? It is true that you are burning off more calories but that comes at the expense of your physical body as well. Your body is not meant to be working so hard and sooner or later, it will wear down. That’s going to take a toll on your body and it might not be ideal. What are your views? Express them in your......

...Topic 1: What career would you like to choose after leaving school Model answer: Today, it is not easy to choose a career. Hundreds of students pass various examinations every year and compete with one another for positions in the various professions which are not so many as there are applicants. I would, however, like to choose teaching as my career. Teaching is an interesting career for several reasons. As a teacher I can learn many things, especially if I teach to an udder-secondary school. If I teach History or English, for example, I have to read many books to make my teaching lessons more interesting to my pupils. Thus, I can acquire more knowledge of the subjects that I teach than what I can learn from the class text books. It is indeed a fact that a teacher learns a lot from the class text books; but that is hardly enough to make the teacher's lessons interesting to pupils. A good teacher must therefore read many other books. Again, as a teacher, I have to speak well so that my pupils will be able to understand my instructions well. In this way I can improve my powers of expression. Even my pronunciation of words will improve to great extent. Further, as a teacher, I shall have enough leisure to read and prepare for various examinations. It is possible today to sit for many important examinations by studying entirely at home. Thus, I can acquire important qualifications. Finally, as a teacher I will be respected as an educated person. People will......
