Purpose of the Team: The Goonies set out on a quest to find One Eye Willie’s treasure in hopes of saving their neighborhood from being taken over by developers to build a golf course.

Physical Setting in which the group works: Underground cave filled with criminals, skeletons and booby traps - falling boulders, break-away-floors, deadly spike pits, perilous waterslides - set by One eye Willie to prevent anyone from finding his treasure.

Company size, nature of business, location, past history, and proposed future: The company size is seven teenagers. The Goonies consist of four preteenaged boys, all from working class families in Astoria, Oregon. Astoria is along the costal line of Oregon. The Goonies grew up together and did not want to see their neighborhood taken over by land developers to build a golf course. They were about to separate, but wanted to complete one last adventure in an effort to save their homes. This adventure was probably the most challenging thing they had ever done as they had to fight for their lives to survive.

Competitors, suppliers, and regulators: Goonies competitors are Chester Copperpot as he tried to get to the treasure before they did, One Eye Willie – he set the booby traps to prevent anyone from finding his treasure, the Fratellis- they were trying to get to One Eye Willy’s treasure before the Goonies did and the land developer – the goonies were competing for their neighborhood. The suppliers are Chester Copperpot – supplied the key to the main part of the cave and Mr. Walsh – supplied the map to treasure.

Legal System – The Fratellis was a crime family. The two brothers escaped from jail.

Social System - The team were working together and interacting with each other to accomplish a goal. They are learning lessons, problem solving and dealing with internal and external conflict.

Economic System - The Rich vs The Working Class. A corrupt corporate developer (Perkins Construction) is foreclosing on the homes in the Goondocks and plans to flatten all the homes to build a country club/golf course to cater to an upscale clientel. The families do not have the financial resouces to save their home.…...

...you hear words to, in my case "Hello(bing) there, you (gung) hap-py pee-pul (splat)"-the splat being the drawer flying out. I uncrease the bill, tenderly as you may imagine, it just having come from between the two smoothest scoops of vanilla I had ever known were there, and pass a half and a penny into her narrow pink palm, and nestle the herrings in a bag and twist its neck and hand it over, all the time thinking. The girls, and who'd blame them, are in a hurry to get out, so I say "I quit" to Lengel quick enough for them to hear, hoping they'll stop and watch me, their unsuspected hero. They keep right on going, into the electric eye; the door flies open and they flicker across the lot to their car, Queenie and Plaid and Big Tall Goony-Goony (not that as raw material she was so bad), leaving me with Lengel and a kink in his eyebrow. "Did you say something, Sammy?" "I said I quit." "I thought you did." "You didn't have to embarrass them." "It was they who were embarrassing us." I started to say something that came out "Fiddle-de-doo." It's a saying of my grand- mother's, and I know she would have been pleased. "I don't think you know what you're saying," Lengel said. "I know you don't," I said. "But I do." I pull the bow at the back of my apron and start shrugging it off my shoulders. A couple customers that had been heading for my slot begin to knock against each other, like scared pigs in a chute. Lengel sighs and begins to look very patient and old and gray.......

Essay Rough Draft

...today is quite different than when I was a kid in the 80’s because cable television was fairly new and being able to witness MTV give songs that I loved on the radio a different life with their colorful and sometimes odd music videos. Unlike children today that has laptops and cellular phone phones that inhibit their power to build up close friendships because they’ve become obsessed with the World Wide Web and social media networking that lets masses to almost act like celebrities in their own network. My mother would limit how much time we spent on the TV and insisted I play with the neighbor children. I can’t thank her enough because I hold fond memories of little adventures I would get into with my brother and cousin, we were like The Goonies. It is sad to see that children nowadays somehow find that boring and would rather be immersed in a video game or computer screen instead of exploring the world around them. Even though I find that my imagination and creativity are my favorite qualities about myself, I can willingly admit that they are also sometimes my worst enemy. There are times something will catch my attention briefly and I will just completely forget about the task at hand as I allow myself to get lost in a fantasy. That is why I felt a link with the character Walter Mitty when he is running errands with his wife and most of the time he’s not aware he is lost in the moment. There is no denying that everyone will have a different impression from any story, some......

Auteur Theory

...The Cinematic Auteur Steven Spielberg Auteur Theory says that a director's film reflects the director's personal creative vision, as if they were the primary "auteur" (the French word for "author"). In spite of the production of the film as part of an industrial process, the auteur's creative voice is distinct enough to shine through all kinds of studio interference and through the collective process.” Steven Spielberg is now recognized as one of Hollywood’s leading auteurs; a filmmaker who expresses his identity over a body of films. Steven Spielberg, for instance, lends his touch to films he's associated with, whether it's as director OR producer, as with The Goonies Importance of auteur theory in film analysis and interpretation. Auteur theory is the process in which to critique films. “The theory gives enormous, almost total responsibility for a film’s success or failure (artistically, not at the box office) to the director” (Goodykoontz & Jacobs, 2011). According to film critic Andrew Sarris there are three rules to determine if a Director is an Auteurist. (1) Technical competence which refers to how well a movie is made; (2) Distinguishable Personality which refers to movies must have identifiable style and viewpoint; (3) Interior Meaning which refers to that the body of work should express coherent world stance. The features of being an auteur include; 1 having a recognizable style, 2   repeatedly returning to the same subject mater, 3   habitually......

...Answer: twenty dollars ahead, but usually 40-50% come up with a different answer) or a similar puzzle. The key is that the problem needs to have multiple answers. Once the problem-solving group is established, he gives a second group of volunteers the task of using FOICS checklist to chart the first group’s responses as they work toward a decision. This exercise illustrates how a group functions, as well as the difficulty of coding systems such as FOICS checklist. Feature film illustrations For a practical illustration of the functional perspective, Griffin recommends using a two-minute clip from Apollo 13 that begins when Ed Harris picks up chalk (1:28:30). Other films that also work well to illustrate the theory include Ocean’s 11, The Goonies, and School of Rock. 221 Further Resources § For additional discussion of the functional perspective, see: o Gwen M. Hate Crime Analysis - Homosexuality

...avoid the death penalty. McKinney also received two life sentences in prison. Now in prison McKinney says that his intent that October night was simply to rob Shepard because he needed money for drugs. McKinney blames methamphetamine induced rage as to why he beat Shepard so severely (Vargas, 2004). Another story that recently made news headlines in Bronx, New York. A group of nine men ages 16-23 years old have been accused of luring a gay 30 year old man to house where they told him a party was happening. When the man arrived at the house there was no party, instead the gay man had to endure a night of torture that included being sodomized, burned, and whipped. The nine accused men who claim themselves as the “Latin King Goonies” punished the man simply because he was gay. According to police, before the nine accused men had met up with the 30 year old man, they snatched up two teenagers and beat and sodomized the boys until they admitted to having sex with men (Buffy, 2010). The story does not have any trial information or sentencing information on this case since these incidents just occurred over this past weekend. It is hard to say which restorative model would best suit the hate crimes associated with homosexual men. Community accountability panels seem like a great way to deal with minor incidents and help to stop an offender before any more serious hate crime are committed. Community accountability panels are “meant to hold the offender......

Hate Crime

...not only the victim but the people around them and their communities. A growing trend not just in big cities but in small ones as well is hate crimes against homosexuals and lesbians. It is very often you read an article of racially motivated hate crimes but often crimes against some because of the sexual preference are not as public and it is mostly because of the topic itself. The article I chose to write about was related to a heinous crime against three people because of their sexual preference. The Collegiate Times wrote this article on October 13, 2010 about nine members of a notorious gang in New York who committed vicious acts against three men because of their sexual preference. The gang members belonged to the known Latin King Goonies gang primarily based out of the Bronx, New York. They had a male individual that was a possible recruit to the gang but later found out that he was homosexual. Once they found this information they lured him into an abandoned apartment and severely beat him and tortured him for hours. The same gang members then went outside and found a 30 year old man with his 17 year old boyfriend and took them back to the same apartment and brutally beat, cut, and committed severely other atrocious acts against these two innocent victims. The gang members then went to the older male’s brother’s house and robbed him and beat him as well. All these acts were committed just because the gang members had hate for homosexuals. This was no gang......
