Working as a team in any organization is absolutely necessary, when working as a team we have more inputs of ideas and different points of view that help develop a better product at the end, either if it is a school project, or a business decision that needs to be made, If Chris learns to study as part of a team one of the benefits that it will bring would be that he can rely on his team members for ideas, and it will give him a sense of security; when doing a project, he will not have to do the entire task by himself but focus on one of the aspects of it. Another good reason is that sharing ideas and information means increasing the learning and understanding of other people’s perspective, it also increased the opportunity to draw on his individual strengths and the ability to compensate for his individual weaknesses. Chris will also be able to develop personal relationships.
There are a few key factors that must be kept in mind when working as a team, it is important that the entire team is focus on the same outcome, otherwise, they will be losing time and energy as well as enthusiasm and motivation. Communication must be open and clear to achieve a high performance, a lack of it could increase trouble and rework, and could break the trust within the members. Also all the team members must work equally in order to maintain a healthy relationship, without participation there is no team, it should be balanced to ensure that everyone on the team is fully involved and that each team member joins the discussion when they are debating their part of the process or task. The must keep a positive atmosphere at all times, negativity will make team members feel uncomfortable and the quality of the assignment will not be at its best. Finally the team leader must…...

Thoughts

...A thought, as defined by the oxford dictionary is “An idea or opinion produced by thinking, or occurring suddenly in the mind. It is common to hear a person say that, “I had a thought about X the other day.” Thoughts are usually short lived, discrete events. Everyone experiences thoughts and have no problem identifying them. Thought can refer to the ideas or the arrangement of ideas that result from thinking, the act of producing thoughts, or the process of producing thoughts. Thoughts are the result or product of spontaneous act of thinking. Thoughts, especially in humans, are not that independent, they can be much more complicated and it can appear to be nothing as it seems. All the information received by the mind triggers a chain of thoughts. Edward Chace Tolman, a great experimentalist and a theoretician in psychology was the first to demonstrate thought influence action. Because thought underlies many human actions and interactions, understanding it’s physical and metaphysical origins, processes and ......

I tasted salt in your mouth as if you drank the waters of the ocean; good thing you didn’t drown. My skin had blood marks on because you held me so tight that winter night. But that didn’t matter because I love you. And I mean it. -End- It’s a little bit funny how I cut fringes out of my long hair And I would feel very sad every time I look at the mirror. Like I was carry kettle bells with each of my finger I thought every girl in school was perfect and not fat And I curse myself for not being alike. I wasn’t good with words spoken or written, and I was ashamed of myself every time I stood in front to say , perhaps stutter. I look above with a beaten heart. The stars at night became my mother. My father was the moon. Or so I thought. As days went by, I became even sadder. I kept on dropping hints Of sadness and they fall like nothing. As nobody noticed....

...flank the target sequence to be amplified. Microsatellite Instability (MSI) Testing Microsatellites are short tandem repeats of DNA that are distributed throughout the genome, and tumors with MSI tend to accumulate errors at a much higher rate than other sequences in the genome because of the defective DNA repair.2,14-17 MSI can be detected by examining microsatellite repeat fragments, as the numbers of repeats in some of the microsatellites can change due to the defective DNA repair.2,16,17 MSI also occurs in a subset of sporadic colorectal carcinomas.16-18However, the efficient identification of tumors with MSI is important because it provides a valuable criterion for identifying patients whose DNA should undergo the work-intensive process of mutation screening for mismatch repair genes. A panel of five microsatellite markers (BAT 25, BAT 26, D5S346, D2S123, and D17S250) were identified at a recent National Cancer Institute (NCI) workshop as being efficient markers for detection of MSI.19 These markers are detected using PCR. Although MSI is known to occur in both colorectal carcinomas and extracolonic malignancies, the recommendations for the use of these markers pertain only to colorectal carcinoma. The workshop defined three groups of patients whose tumors fit the category of either MSI–high frequency (MSI-H), MSI–low frequency (MSI-L), or microsatellite stable (MSS). These were based on the findings of Thibodeau et al,16 who studied 508 patients using 11......

Tuning in

...with Marie I will use the Douglas and McColgan (1999) model of tuning in. This will allow me to view Marie’s case holistically and have an awareness of her situation on a number of levels such as, legislation, policies and procedures, tuning into my own feelings and Marie’s, the skills I will use and the values that will underpin my work. Legislation Three pieces of legislation relevant to this case are the Children (NI) Order 1995, The Human Rights Act (1998) and Mental Health (NI) Order 1986. Article 3 of the Children (NI) Order 1995 states that the child’s welfare is paramount. This article gives the courts and health trusts permission to put the needs of the children above all else. When working with Marie I must ensure I adhere to this order and keep her children’s welfare the priority. (White, 2002). There are a number of articles in the Human Rights Act that are relevant to Marie’s case: Article 8: the right to a private and family life, Article 5: the right to freedom and security and Article 3: no one should be subjected to inhuman or degrading treatment. While I must work to uphold these rights, it is important I have an understanding of what circumstances or situations may warrant breaching these rights for example a disclosure about harm to Marie or her children. The Mental Health (NI) Order (1986) covers assessment, treatment and the rights of people with mental ill health. It outlines the process of voluntary and compulsory detention in hospital and the......

My personality type consist of these types of characteristics: skeptical, often stubborn, critical, independent, and determined. Tuning-in. Preparation for Contact

...Preparation for Contact Assignment Introduction I am a student Social Worker with the Mental Health Team and I am preparing for contact with Marie who has been referred by her CPN. I will use the Douglas and McColgan (1999) Tuning in Model to help me prepare. Tuning in will help me consider the needs and expectations of Marie and her family and friends. It will help me think about my needs and expectations as a worker and about any prejudices or assumptions I may have. I will consider the needs and expectations of the agency I work for and what the relevant policies and procedures are; what are the statutory requirements of my role and what resources do I have or can I access. “Good practice in interviewing does not begin when the interview does” (Thompson 2002). 1. Legislation The Mental Health (N.I.) Order 1986 provides the statutory framework for the care, treatment and protection of anyone with a mental health problem. It ensures the statutory rights of individuals and their families are protected and the roles and responsibilities of staff working with them are implemented. The order also contains powers to intervene and treat people who may be a risk to themselves or others. Marie has attempted suicide twice and has recently discussed the possibility of taking her own life and those of her children. The introduction of the Human Rights Act (1998) safeguards individuals’ rights and freedoms. The Mental Health (N.I.) Order 1986 must be interpreted in ways that are...
