Digital Inclusion in India: A Case of Mobile Banking

Mobile-Banking is a buzz word in the banking sector throughout the world and Indian banks are not exception to it. The liberalization, globalization and privatization of the Indian economy in 1990s paved a more flexible functioning of the services sector and particularly the banking industry. Added to this the adoption of technology in the banking sector has made a remarkable advancement in the service quality of the banks in India. Now bank customers are availing their banking services through internet banking, ATM services and further it has added one more feather to its services by introducing Mobile-Banking to its channel of distribution. Mobile banking is a subset of banking as it allows everyone easy access to their banking activities via., mobile handset (YU&Fang, 2009). Various research findings regarding the penetration of mobile phone, states that the penetration level of mobile in the world is more comparable to that of the banking. The Financial Access Initiative, a research consortium based on New-York University has identified that 2.5 adults worldwide do not have a savings or credit account with either a traditional or alternative financial institution (Chaia, et., 2009). Across the globe the formal banking reaches about 37 per cent of the population, but mobile phone penetration level is 50 per cent of the population. When we analyze the Indian scenario, we should first thank for liberalizing the Indian economy. ...Is there a link between Inclusion and Pupil Achievement During the course of this assignment I would like to investigate attitudes and beliefs with regard to the links between inclusion and pupil achievement. I will demonstrate how my role within the workplace incorporates certain responsibilities towards this. I will discuss inclusion procedures used within the workplace and express where my research indicates it could be improved. An overview of my current role I am currently acting as a volunteer at a local secondary school, working in a specialist centre where children attend since for varying reasons, they are unable to study in mainstream school. The centre is very small so the staff take on many changing roles and I find that so do I. The centre aims to achieve understanding of the child’s needs, dealing with any issues influencing the child’s behaviour and ultimately giving the child the security he or she needs to learn in the centre, of if possible eventually retuning to mainstream school. Unrestrained access to public goods and services is the sine qua non of an open and efficient society. The first reason is that federal and state legislation calls for children with disabilities to be educated in the least restrictive environment. However, it was not until quite recently that teachers’ attitudes towards inclusion of children with special educational needs (SEN) became the focus of extensive research (Avramidis & Kalyva, in press; Jobe & Rust, 2006). The major reason for this change in research interest could perhaps be traced to more contemporary approaches to education, which claim that in order to gain valuable insight into the practice as well as the dynamics of the inclusive classroom, there is perhaps no better method than to evaluate the attitudes of those who form an important part of that dynamic system; namely, the teachers (Rose, 2001).
